 Sahlah's Biography
Sahlah
has become an inspiration to those who have fallen victim to
disabilities. After a car accident left her in a wheelchair for 6
months and back surgery to correct the problem, Sahlah recovered using
BellyDance as a means of intense rehabilitation. Now recognized as one
of the areas most unique and highly-skilled BellyDance artists, she has
since become one of the most sought after instructors, choreographers
and performance artists in the area.
First seen as a “Rising Star” at the Tulsa Blues Festival in 2004,
Sahlah has since visited many states teaching and performing. Sahlah
draws upon an innate understanding of movement instilled from 20 years
of training in various forms of martial arts, which she incorporates
into her unique dance style. She began practicing BellyDance in 2002.
As a continuing student, Sahlah has studied with many reputable Middle
Eastern dance and music teachers in Oklahoma and abroad.
Sahlah’s curiosity and lifelong love for dance, music and culture
has prompted her to explore and study other forms of world dances such
as, Brazilian Samba, Salsa, Tahitian, Ballroom dance, Hip-Hop and
African dance. This background has given Sahlah a style that is
uniquely hers along with a vast knowledge of movement and dance that
comes to life not only in her inspiring performances, but also in her
gift as a teacher. Based in Owasso, Oklahoma, Sahlah can be found
teaching at the Owasso YMCA and Rhythmic Notion Dance studio, as well
as performing at various events, restaurants and clubs around the
United States.
